Community guidelines
Strong opinions are the point. Evidence is the price of admission.
Say what you think
Disagree. Push back. Take a side. Nobody here needs you to be neutral.
Show what you know
If you state something as a fact, a number, a date, a quote or a claim about what someone did, add a source link. Use the source field under the comment box. Comments with a source get a "Source cited" badge.
If you are giving an opinion, say so. "I think" and "in my view" are fine and do not need a link.
Argue the point, not the person
Go after the claim or the reasoning. Insults, slurs, threats, harassment and attempts to dig up or share personal information get comments hidden and accounts removed.
What happens when a claim has no source
The editor or the article's writer may flag a comment as needing a source. The comment stays visible with a note. The commenter can add a source link, and the flag clears. Comments that are abusive, spam or deliberately misleading can be hidden.
Keep it on the page
Stay on topic. No advertising or spam. One account per person.
Questions or problems
If you think a comment was handled unfairly, or you see something that should come down, tell the editor. Moderation decisions are made by people, and people can be wrong.
