Canelo Alvarez beat Christian Mbilli by unanimous decision in the main event in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, on Oct. 31, to win the WBC super middleweight title again, according to The Ring and Bad Left Hook.
The Ring reported that Alvarez, a favorite of more than 3-1, outpointed the previously unbeaten Mbilli at Kingdom Arena. The fight headlined The Ring's "Mexico Versus The World" card. Both outlets reported that Alvarez won on all three official scorecards. Bad Left Hook listed the scores as 115-112, 116-111 and 117-110.
The Ring said Alvarez regained the 168-pound title he lost to Terence Crawford in his previous fight, 13½ months earlier in Las Vegas.
The Ring also reported that referee Hector Afu took a point from Mbilli for landing a right to the back of Alvarez's head. In a separate live-action recap, The Ring said Alvarez controlled the fight.
On the same card, Jaime Munguia retained his WBA super middleweight title with a unanimous decision over Nikita Zon, The Ring reported. The Ring said Munguia survived serious trouble in the sixth round. The judges scored the fight 117-111, 117-111 and 116-112 for Munguia. The Ring described the Munguia-Zon co-main event as a "Round of the Year" contender.
Bad Left Hook's live blog said the card was streaming on DAZN, with the main card scheduled to start at 1:00 pm ET.
